COPENHAGEN shipowner Torm has sold an older panamax bulk carrier trio for $63m as it considers purchase options on its modern chartered tonnage.
The product tanker and dry bulk group indicated the disposal of the early 1990s, 69,000 dwt trio to separate buyers was part of its strategy to keep the fleet profile young and earnings up.
'The second hand bulk market is very liquid and we saw a good opportunity selling at these prices,' said chief executive Klaus Kjaerulff.
Torm, whose share in one-time takeover target and Copenhagen dry bulk operator Norden was worth $21m in March, has five owned panamax vessels.
