In an effort to recruit and retain female faculty, Harvard announced $7.5 million in enhancements to its employee work-life program. Following recommendations of Harvard's 2005 Women's Task Force, the school aims to better support faculty, doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows who are balancing the demands of family and work.
Part of the package includes these new efforts:
* Creating 13-week full-semester paid parental leaves for female and male faculty, whose teaching replacements will be coordinated by the faculty development office, not left to the discretion of each department
