Independent research published by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) claims to show that legal representation does not usually lead to higher or faster compensation.
Its analysis of over 90 000 personal injury claims between GBP1000 and GBP25 000 shows that claimants without legal representation receive on average GBP289 more than claimants with legal representation, and the time taken to settle claims without legal representation is on average 95 days shorter.
