The numbers are adding up for female accountants and auditors. As of 2004, women made up more than 60% of the field, up from just 39% in 1983.
An estimated 842,200 women are currently employed as accountants or auditors in the U.S. There were only about 500 female certified public accountants in 1951, according to the Journal of Accountancy. With figures like those, it seems that Harvard President Lawrence Summers' statement that ...
