A former Naval Academy quarterback accused of rape testified Tuesday that his accuser initiated the encounter, which he described as "sex gone bad."

Midshipman Lamar S. Owens Jr. told a court-martial panel that his accuser invited him to her room through an instant message. When he arrived, Owens said she tugged on his sweater and indicated she wanted him to join her on her bed.

Owens said the encounter in the pre-dawn hours of Jan. 29 ended abruptly when the woman became still and unresponsive.
