April is the cruelest month for car dealers, the time when Selling it takes them to task for sins committed during the past year or so. For some reason, they never seem chastened, which might be a good thing, since we're left with plenty of ammunition.
This past year, pitches continued to arrive in deceptive envelopes. "Automotive information" on the outside meant a warranty offer on the inside; "buy and hold U.S. savings bonds" held notice of a SuperSale at an Idaho dealer.
Dealers continued to claim that a car could be "yours" for, say, $28,000, when they had already deducted thousands of dollars in "customer cash"--paid by (duh) ...
