The code of practice governing supermarkets needs to be stronger to deal with complaints, says Rural Development Minister Ross Finnie.
In a submission to the Competition Commission's inquiry into the grocery sector, Mr Finnie says there is enough anecdotal evidence of continued grievances to warrant a reassessment of the guidelines.
He also calls for stronger working links to be forged throughout the food supply chain so that primary producers and processors are not held to ransom by the pricing practices of retailers.
