May 13-late October. Cape Cod, Mass. HERITAGE MUSEUMS & GARDENS--SAVING OUR SHIPS: THE SEA-PAINTINGS OF CHARLES ROBERT PATTERSON. Patterson was, arguably, the most influential marine painter in the United States during the twentieth century. The exhibit will feature 24 framed artworks and will be the first full retrospective of the painter's life and artistic achievement. Guest Curator Robert Webb is basing the new exhibition on his book-length biography, Sailor-Painter: The Uncommon Life of Charles Robert Patterson, available in the Museum Store. Admission charged. May 27-29. Chadds Ford, Pa. BRANDYWINE RIVER MUSEUM ANTIQUES SHOW. Everything old is new again at the 35th annual Brandywine River Museum Antiques Show, held May 27, 28, 29. Thirty-two dealers from fifteen states will offer 17th to 19th century American and English formal and country furniture, accessories, and folk art. The show opens with a Preview Party on Friday, May 26 and continues Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Decorative Arts Exhibition, "Treasures from the Sea: Sailors' Valentines and Shell Word," will feature objects made from shells and examples of sailors' valentines.
