G Chris Snee, one of the GIANTS' best run blockers, has a rare combination of power and speed. He's adept at pulling and can flatten linebackers in the open field, which gives RB Tiki Barber room to run. ... The BEARS signed Dante Wesley to improve their special teams, but Wesley drew high praise for his play at cornerback from coach Lovie Smith during workouts and could earn time in the secondary, particularly if legal issues make CB Ricky Manning unavailable. ... The LIONS' offensive line has two new starters, but LG Ross Verba and RT Rex Tucker are experienced and won't have a tough time developing chemistry. New line coach Larry Beightol likes to use a lot of movement, so it will be important that all five linemen get used to working with one another in camp. ... EAGLES coach Andy Reid likes two-tight end sets but got away from them last season when rookie Stephen Spach failed to grasp the offense. This year, the addition of Matt Schobel to go with starter U. Smith gives Reid two pass-catching tight ends. ... VIKINGS OLB Chad Greenway spent the entire offseason working with the second-team defense, but it would be surprising if he isn't a starter when the season begins. He needs to get a little stronger and improve his understanding of the scheme. ... With REDSKINS C Casey Rabach (leg) out, Mike Pucillo is working as the starter. Pucillo gets off the ball well, is getting a grasp of the offense and is versatile; he also can play guard. ... The SAINTS' Zach Hilton (6-8, 268) is a big, pass-catching tight end who is developing his blocking skills. He could become a favorite target of QB Drew Brees, who developed a rapport with TE Antonio Gates in San Diego. ... SEAHAWKS QB David Greene, a third-round pick in 2005, has not progressed this offseason. The problem: Greene isn't comfortable in coach Mike Holmgren's hybrid West Coast offense, and Greene's inexperience can be seen in his poor decision making and inability to complete passes consistently. ... BUCCANEERS DL Dewayne White has worked primarily as a pass-rushing tackle on obvious passing downs, but he has improved his run-stopping skills and his ability to get off the edge and could earn regular playing time. ... PANTHERS DE Mike Rucker's sacks totals have fallen the past two seasons, but with DT Kris Jenkins expected to be healthy Rucker likely won't face as much blocking. He needs to take advantage of one-on-one assignments. ... CB Tye Hill, the RAMS' first-round pick, has displayed good footwork and closing speed in coverage. Hill has put in extra time to work on his deficiencies, such as turning pass breakups into interceptions. ... FALCONS WR Michael Jenkins has worked hard to become faster and stronger this offseason. He already has proved himself an exceptional downfield blocker, but Jenkins needs any advantage he can give himself to separate and make catches in tight coverage. ... COWBOYS TE Ryan Hannam, a free-agent addition, isn't much of a pass-catching threat, but he can be a good blocker at the point of ...
