A nice combination of comfort and handling
Toyo recently introduced its Proxes H4, a new H-speed-rated all-season performance tire targeted at the touring/performance market.
It's available in a dozen 65- and 60-series sizes.
The Proxes H4 is designed primarily for luxury sedans and sport coupes. It has a UTQG rating of 400, which is extremely high for an H-rated tire.
Design and construction features include an all-season tread consisting of four main grooves coupled with lateral slits for water dispersion, evenly spaced tread blocks and a zig-zag groove design for snow traction.
The company says it has a low-rolling-resistance compound for fuel economy, spiral-wound edge and cap plies, polyester casing and a high-modulus bead filler for enhanced handling and ride comfort.
We recently evaluated this tire using a BMW 318i convertible as the test primary vehicle.
Noise tests were performed with the convertible top up, and with radio and interior fan off.
The P215/60R15 Proxes H4 tires were mounted to the BMW's original equipment wheels. We found a maximum of only 3/4 ounce of weights was required to balance any of the wheel/tires.
Vehicle alignment was checked to make sure suspension adjustments were within BMW spec. Tires were inflated to a cold pressure of 36 psi.
