Opening Our Eyes--Shifting our Thinking begins with a dedication to the memory of Irihapeti Ramsden and Siobhan Norrish. (1) These two women, one Maori of Ngai Tahu affiliation, and the other Pakeha/Tauiwi, were my friends and colleagues. Both played their distinctive parts in the evolution of cultural safety in nursing education. It is fitting that a review of this publication begins with a reflection on their contribution, not only to cultural safety in nursing, but also to the art of living tire to the full.
Does cultural safety education work? This was a key question in the research report launched by the researchers at a recent celebration at Victoria University's Graduate School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health.
