Rookie Sinorice Moss adds a new dimension to the GIANTS' wide receiver unit. The coaches already have drawn up wide receiver screens, quick slants and outs and a few reverses to take advantage of his speed, quickness and versatility.... One reason the PANTHERS signed DT Maake Kemoeatu was his size, but he appeared bigger than his listed 350 pounds and looked a little slow at June workouts. The team wants him to take up space but would like him to show more quickness.... Brandon Moore has claimed one of the 49ERS' starting outside linebacker jobs, which pushes Corey Smith into a backup role. Moore played inside for much of the offseason but is versatile. He impressed coaches in minicamps by closing quickly on the ball and using good technique to shed blockers.... The battle between Cory Redding and Kalimba Edwards for the LIONS' starting left end job could hinge on which player can become a two-way threat the quickest. Redding is improving his pass-rush skills; Edwards has increased his strength to better handle the run.... SAINTS MLB Alfred Fincher struggled to adapt as a rookie but has been working extensively with the first-string defense the past month. He is handling the signal-calling duties well, and the new coaches seem to have faith in him.... At 6-2, D.J. Hackett has the height the rest of the SEAHAWKS' wide receivers lack. He needs to be more consistent, but look for him to get plenty of reps with the No. 1 offense in three- and four-receiver sets during camp.... BEARS QB Brian Griese was solid in the spring and showed good comprehension of the playbook. He took some reps away from Kyle Orton, but the team wants Griese at full speed in case Rex Grossman gets hurt again.... The COWBOYS need to develop another pass-rushing end, and they love third-round pick Jason Hatcher's potential. The team has asked Hatcher to focus on creating a go-to move before he works on diversifying his repertoire.... The BUCCANEERS' only backup safety with experience is Kalvin Pearson, who has played 19 games, so depth is a concern. Second-year player Donte Nicholson is a powerful hitter but still doesn't have the coverage skills to play regularly.... Eric Edwards could develop into the all-around tight end the CARDINALS have been seeking. He has the speed to get open down the seam and has improved as a blocker.... The VIKINGS' middle linebacker job remains unsettled. The players who have received the longest looks are Napoleon Harris, who lacks intensity, and Dontarrious Thomas, who has no instincts for the position.... The FALCONS would like to sign two veterans with nasty streaks to improve depth at safety. Omare Lowe, a backup corner who is working behind FS Chris Crocker, sometimes struggles in man coverage but takes good angles on tackles.... Rookies Daryn Colledge and Jason Spitz will enter training camp as the PACKERS' starting guards. Both are mobile ...
