RF Shawn Green is having success shortening his stroke and taking pitches up the middle or the other way. The challenge for him now is to incorporate power back into his swing. When he tries to do that, his swing sometimes gets too long and his average drops. Finding the fight balance has become an ongoing process.... OF Jeff DaVanon has a good eye at the plate and does a nice job of working the count in his limited at-bats. DaVanon, 32, brings energy to the lineup. HOT PROSPECT: OF Scott Hairston is putting up big numbers at Class AAA Tucson. Hairston has a short stride and a quick bat that allows him to hit the best fastballs. He's still a little stiff on defense, but he seems more comfortable in left field this season and the organization is committed to using him there.--Steve Gilbert

His play earned him a call-up to Class AAA Colorado Springs.--Thomas Harding
