SN: Are you a better poker player or commentator?
KAPLAN: Probably a better commentator because everybody's better when you can see what the other players have. That's what the success of TV poker is all about.
SN: Who's the best player in the world?
KAPLAN: The people who play in the highest cash games at the Bellagio (in Las Vegas). Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Johnny Chan--they're threatened in every hand with losing a lot of money.
SN: Are all these young guys as good as the old guard?
KAPLAN: Younger players are more brash. TV affects the way they play, too. They don't want to be pushed around. The result is good television but not the safe way to play.
