SEOUL, July 3 Asia Pulse - A majority of South Korean exporters predict favorable business conditions in the third quarter of this year, but the optimistic view is being affected by a firmer local currency and higher energy and raw material prices, a survey showed Monday.
The survey of 836 local exporters conducted by the Korea International Trade Association revealed its export business survey index (EBSI) came to 104.3 for the July-September period.
A reading above 100 means a majority of the companies polled are optimistic about business conditions, while a reading below 100 means there are more companies with a negative outlook.
The EBSI has stayed above the benchmark since the last quarter of 2005, raising hopes that exports will continue to lead the nation's economic growth for this year.
