SEOUL, July 3 Asia Pulse - South Korean households in which both spouses work have nearly three times more money to save than those in which only one spouse is employed, according to a government report released Sunday.
According to the report by the National Statistical Office, households with two working parents had monthly wages of about 3.78 million won (US$3,982) on average. The amount was 38.5 per cent or some 1.05 million won more than that made by those with only one working parent.
The report was based on a survey conducted among 7,500 married couples throughout the nation, the statistical office said.
However, the size of monthly spending by the two types of households was only 16.5 per cent different, with two-income households with 990,000 won of savings compared to only 335,000 won for those with only one income, the report said.
