SEOUL, July 3 Asia Pulse - Two U.S. chip-making giants filed a complaint with South Korea's antitrust watchdog against Qualcomm Inc., accusing the San Diego-based chip manufacturer of abusing its market dominance, sources said Monday.
The complaint, lodged on June 23 by Texas Instruments Inc. and Broadcom, alleged Qualcomm is selling its handset chips bundled with other chip products by using its market dominance, hindering fair market competition, according to the sources.
Qualcomm's Korean unit spokesman Kim Seung-soo declined to comment.
The move is the latest in a series of anti-trust disputes against Qualcomm, which has a monopoly market status in South Korea as the sole supplier of mobile handset chips to local wireless communications companies in return for royalties.
