A new Channel 4 series, How To Look Good Naked, has set a precedent by being the first fashion show to concentrate on women of 'real' shapes and sizes - and setting out to be 100 per cent against cosmetic surgery. Here, psychologist Michael Dune explains why happiness is in the mind - not the scalpel ...

Critics are praising Channel 4 for commissioning How To Look Good Naked, to impress on men and women how they can look and feel slimmer, whatever their size or shape, without going under the knife.

Well, perhaps that should be so, but then since Channel 4 was also responsible for the dreadful Ten Years Younger, which rebuilds every flabby, saggy, crooked and imperfect part of their victim imaginable, perhaps the decision was more to do with ratings than philanthropy.
