JOE KERNEN, CNBC ANCHOR: Bristol-Myers Squibb received accelerated approval for Sprycel, it is a treatment for a rare form of leukemia known as CML. The drug is the first approved oral inhibitor for treating all phases of CML for patients that have developed resistance to prior therapies, including Gleevec, which is made by Novartis (NVS). Joining us "First on CNBC" is Elliott Sigal, chief science officer of Bristol-Myers Squibb.
And Bristol-Myers, as we know from Lance Armstrong and other advertising, was a leader in oncology. Lately maybe the Genentechs (DNA), the Amgens (AMGN), some other companies have gotten more -- had more success in recent years. Is this the beginning of Bristol-Myers` comeback (INAUDIBLE)?
