Jun. 30--One last look at the local landscape before wandering off into four weeks of vacation hibernation: For all the reasons I figured the Rangers would fail again this season, there were three that never came to mind. (1) Couldn't win in Arlington. (2) Couldn't hit home runs. (3) Couldn't beat National League teams.
Yet, with another homestand opening tonight, and with the halfway point of the season coming up Saturday, that's been the trifecta for mediocrity. Speaking of being wrong, I never thought of this one either: The AL West would become the weakest division in baseball, allowing the Rangers to still be hanging close at the halfway point.
