Aspen Insurance UK has announced the expansion of its portfolio with the appointment of an International Property Facultative team based in London and Paris, the first Aspen Re office to open in continental Europe.
Heather Goodhew, manager and senior underwriter, will be responsible for Aspen Re's International Property Facul-tative account in London and Paris. Ms Goodhew has 23 years' experience in the reinsurance business, in both the company market and Lloyds, having joined Aspen Re in November 2005. Prior to this she was at XL Re, where she established, then managed and developed, the international facultative account for 10 years.
Operating out of London, Ms Goodhew will direct a team of seven property reinsurance specialists, focused on underwriting a wide range of property classes.
Brian Dowd, chairman and chief executive of ACE USA and chairman of ACE Westchester Specialty, has been appointed to the post of chief executive of the company's North American insurance operating division.
The company also announced the promotion of John Lupica, president and chief operating officer of ACE USA, to chief executive, ACE USA.
White Mountains Insurance Group has elected Jack Byrne as chairman of the board. Mr Byrne replaces George Gillespie, who remains a director. Mr Gillespie replaced Mr Byrne as chairman in November 2003.
