My first travel tip is to recommend that you do your homework before you travel. Also, make sure you get a good night's sleep; if the food isn't up to scratch at your hotel, it's not a problem - it's usually quite easy to find a decent local restaurant. However, finding a quiet room with a good bed is invaluable!
Don't set up unrealistic schedules. While you might be able to make your tight transits, your luggage may not!
You cannot beat jet-lag - we're not superhuman, and our body is bound to put up some resistance at some point on a long trip.
Don't expect your stomach to eat in the middle of the night without complaining! Always eat and drink sensibly.
Always pack a small travel first-aid kit - this is imperative for those small emergencies that can happen as you travel.
Don't use hotel phones without a suitable phone card - use the internet instead if this is possible.
