The director of change strategy at Aon has recently asserted that electronic trading in the London market is no longer a 'pipe dream' now that it has passed the 100,000 mark in electronic claims files (ECFs) created.
Aon's electronic document repository was launched in January 2003 to allow all parties in the insurance process to access electronic claims documentation simultaneously. DocEx currently has 3500 documents viewed every month by 70 reinsurers and insurers worldwide. It is also being used in other parts of the insurance process, including accounting and settlement, and can be also used potentially to support the placing of insurance policies.
