Maud racing driver Ben Mason successfully completed his Formula Renault debut at the weekend. The Scottish Legends champion claimed 11th and 15th place finishes in the fifth and sixth rounds of the Formula Renault BARC championship at Snetterton at the weekend after a late call to drive for Russell Racing.
Mason said: "It would have been great to finish in the top 10, but 11th position was a decent result for my first race - I'm very happy with it." Sichel's sauna ORKNEY ultra endurance athlete William Sichel is using a special sauna cubicle to prepare for the world's hottest endurance race - the Badwater Ultramarathon run over 135 miles through Death Valley, California. Temperatures will be approaching 130 degrees.
"I'll have to be sprayed with ice water every 10 minutes, have ice under my desert hat and have an ice bandana around my neck," said Sichel.
Sichel is now doing intensive preparations which includes his own sauna cubicle that heats up to 137 degrees, so he should be acclimatised when he arrives in Death Valley for the July 24 race.
