Imagine my consternation upon your advising against hormone therapy based on the Women's Health Initiative--now discredited as a flawed study ("Risk Dwarfs Benefit in WHI Review of Hormone Therapy," March 15, 2006, p. 1).
A recent study from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston found definite cardiovascular protection when HT commenced at menopause, and data cited in the Jan.-Feb. issue of Menopause comprehensively place the WHI in a new perspective.
The problems with the WHI were years of delay before initiating HT, and probably excessive dosage for that age range, which went into the 70s.
On behalf of the many women who may benefit from HT, I hope an up-to-date news presentation can be made.
