Despite a gallant effort, the Dallas Mavericks came up two wins short in The Finals. But the best is yet to come, what with a young team, a young Dirk, a young coach and a young owner, all of them so enthusiastic, so special and so . . . so . . . so manly.
Reality-world wrap-up to the local NBA season, as now seen through the eyes of basically everyone outside North Texas zip codes:
It was a gutless el foldo on pro basketball's biggest stage, yet also a deserved exit for a team that whines better than it shoots, and for an owner who is a classless loud mouth punk.
The reality is not pretty, but true.
And the truth is probably somewhere in between the reality and dream worlds.
