A campaign has been launched to end night flights from Bristol International Airport amid fears over the level of pollution they are causing in the city.
Green Party city Councillor Charlie Bolton says newly published data reveals vapour trails from night flights are significantly more damaging to the planet's climate than from daylight flights and fears Bristol airport's expansion plans will only exacerbate the problem.
He has written to airport boss Andrew Skipp urging an end to night flights and written to transport minister Douglas Alexander to urge a change in national policy.
