he mirror can be a woman's best friend or worst enemy when she's focused on losing weight. For Robyn Gombar, Janeene Fears, and Michelle Rodak, the relationship is improving. When they met with Garren and his team at the Garren New York salon, they discovered another reason to be happy with their reflections. "Making subtle changes in your haircut and color can give you extra spark," Garren says. "In the middle of a makeover process, that can be inspiring." Gombar says: "My new hair makes me feel a little sexier and a lot more confident." No smoke and mirrors necessary.

Hair History: "I have naturally curly hair that can get unruly, and I always struggle with frizz. I usually straighten it because it's much easier to manage. I grew my hair long as I gained weight because it made me feel safe-I hid myself under a big heap of hair. But now the ends are split and dry, and the dull color makes me look drab."
