PARIS/AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The board of French telecoms equipment maker Alcatel gathered on Thursday at what could be a crucial point in its plan to forge a $35 billion merger with smaller U.S. rival Lucent.
The companies said last Thursday they had started discussing a "merger of equals" that was intended to be priced at market, which means no premium will be paid over current share prices.
