1B Kendry Morales had started slowly at each professional level after leaving the Dominican Republic to join the organization last year, but he has been making quick adjustments since his call-up May 22. A switch hitter, Morales struggled from the right side during spring training, but he has been equally effective from both sides of the plate since. He also is getting quicker reads on breaking balls. ... SS Orlando Cabrera is excelling in the No. 2 spot and provides a good bridge from leadoff man 3B Chone Figgins to RF Vladimir Guerrero, the No. 3 hitter.
