BALTIMORE ORIOLES
Losing RF Jay Gibbons (hip, knee) is significant because the Orioles feature a primarily righthanded-hitting lineup, and Gibbons was one of its few lefthanded hitters. Luis Matos, a righthanded batter, figures to get much of Gibbons' playing time.... Brandon Fahey has been working in the outfield in an effort to increase his value to the team. He had four home runs in the first two weeks of the season but has had only four since.--Spencer Fordin
