When Peter Kern, the longest-tenured owner in the AFL, took over the Tampa Bay Storm in 1994, the Arena Football League still was barely visible on a crowded sports landscape. "I'd get on the airplane and it was, 'The Tampa Bay who? Arena football? What's that?'" Kern says. "Now, people know who we are."
