JETS WR Wayne Chrebet is expected to retire, which will give Jerricho Cotchery his big chance. Cotchery improved gradually in his first two seasons, and the team is relying on him to make a quantum leap in 2006. He's a big, physical receiver with strong hands; however, he doesn't have the separation speed to be an elite player.... Frisman Jackson, a converted quarterback, could be the BROWNS' No. 3 receiver. Jackson needs work on route running, and he's not very fast, but he fights off jams, has improved at getting open and battles for balls in traffic.... STEELERS C Jeff Hartings' quick hands give him a leverage advantage. Hartings is not asked to pull a lot, but he has good athletic ability and quickness.... The CHIEFS have been impressed with young QBs Brodie Croyle and Casey Printers. Croyle has shown exceptional presence for a rookie. He also displayed good footwork and the ability to make all of the throws. The Chiefs have more to work with in the developmental quarterback spot than they've had in over a decade.... Seth Payne is moving back to tackle in the TEXANS' 4-3 scheme. He's working on improving his game in a vertical defense and focusing on relearning skills he hasn't used in a few years.... Rookie RB Joseph Addai made a favorable first impression with the COLTS. He made crisp cuts and showed a good burst through the line on runs. He caught the ball effortlessly by snatching passes with his hands.... Although the BILLS drafted John McCargo in the first round, the starting nose tackle job appears to be Tim Anderson's to lose. Anderson is an effort player. He sometimes gets overpowered by bigger blockers, but he makes plays when he's on the move, has improved his upper-body strength and is getting better at using his hands to create separation.... CHARGERS DE Luis Castillo has worked on his hands and appears to have trimmed down this offseason--the former to get off blocks more quickly, the latter to stay fresh longer. He has taken up pilates in an effort to strengthen his core.... TITANS S Lamont Thompson has lost 10 pounds, and he looked quicker in and out of his breaks during minicamp. Thompson believes he'll arrive at the ball with better timing than he did last season.... QB Andrew Walter (shoulder, groin) is healthy, so the RAIDERS intend to turn him loose in training camp to see whether he is ready to handle the starting role. Walter (6-6, 230) is tall and smart and has an above-average arm. He lacks mobility.... RG Scott Kooistra is a physical, aggressive player who has excelled in limited opportunities as a backup for the BENGALS. Kooistra shows the ability to mirror and slide and uses solid hand placement to get good leverage. If he stays healthy and continues to improve, he could be a hot commodity as a free agent after the 2006 season.... TE Todd Heap has been impressive in the RAVENS' minicamps and passing camps. Heap did not play up to his standards last season. With an offseason free of injuries, he looks like the Heap of old and likely will be a major weapon again. ... QB Daunte Culpepper continues to look good in the DOLPHINS' offseason workouts. Coach Nick Saban, who usually hates guessing about injuries, says Culpepper is ahead of schedule in his return from knee surgery.... ILB Ryan Claridge has excellent athletic ability and has shown he can rush or cover, so he could be a three-down player for the PATRIOTS. In front of him is Monty Beisel, ...
