SANYO TO MARKET STANDARD-PRICED HOME APPLIANCES IN INDIA.
NEW DELHI, June 1 Asia Pulse - Japan's Sanyo Electric Co. (TSE:6764) has decided to sell standard-priced white goods in India, and before year-end, will release washing machines and refrigerators there that are priced far lower than the high-end products it now offers.
As with other Japanese electronics producers operating in India, Sanyo so far has focused mainly on luxury white goods.
Since Sanyo does not have a production base in India, it will import the low-priced washing machines and refrigerators from Southeast Asia.
