UNION and employers leaders resumed talks on a new pay deal early this morning after taking a midnight break to reassess their positions.
Last night, the Taoiseach and Tanaiste dramatically intervened in a final push to force a breakthrough in the deadlocked national pay talks.
The union group, including ICTU general secretary David Begg and president Peter McLoone, were told during a 45-minute meeting that it should be possible to reach an agreement and that a final set of proposals would be drafted.
