Prague, May 30 (CTK) - The sale of organic food in the Czech Republic has been rising steadily in recent years, having grown by a third in 2005 against 2004, but still lags behind organic food consumption in western Europe. Organic food still accounts for only one tenth of a percent in overall food consumption in the Czech Republic. Each Czech spends Kc35 on average annually on organic food, which is just 3 percent of the average amount spent in western Europe. The price of organic food is usually 30 to 50 percent higher than the price of standard products. Overall, some 3,000 organic food products are sold on the Czech market, of which 2,000 …
