ALOFI, June 1 Asia Pulse - The Pacific atoll nation of Niue is down to its last day or two of water after a fire at the sole power station knocked out the country's electricity generators.
A spokesman from Niue Broadcasting Corporation said the atolls' 1,720 residents were particularly concerned about water supply because the pumps are powered by electricity. Emergency generators are being used to provide power for essential services, including the islands' only hospital and the airport, after the fire at the power station on Tuesday night.
