KABUL, June 1 Asia Pulse - Afghanistan's Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation said Wednesday it required US$1 million to launch a bird influenza vaccination campaign throughout the country.
Commonly, the bird flu virus transmits from wild birds to domestic ones and then may affect humans.
Positive cases of the H5N1 were first reported in the central capital and then in eastern Nangarhar. Such cases were also detected in eight other provinces: Laghman, Kunar, Kapisa, Parwan, Logar, Paktia, Kandahar and Wardag.
According to Agriculture and Irrigation Ministry officials, more than 15 cases of the deadly bird flu virus had been registered so far.
