SEOUL, June 1 Asia Pulse - Business confidence among South Korean manufacturers fell for a second month for June, with the majority still holding a pessimistic view of South Korea's future business prospects, the nation's central bank said Thursday.
The business survey index (BSI) declined to 86 for June from 94 in May and 97 in April, according to the Bank of Korea. A reading below 100 means that pessimists outnumber optimists. The survey was conducted on 2,929 manufacturing and nonmanufacturing companies from May 16 to 24.
The index measuring manufacturers' current economic sentiment also dropped to 83 in May from 87 in April, the bank said.
"Business survey indexes fell for all large and small businesses, as well as exporters and companies that sell locally," the bank said.
