YES Trade Pujols? It's like one of my favorite wrestlers, Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase, used to say: "Everyone has his price." And Pujols' price is higher than anyone else's in fantasy baseball, which means you can command any players you want if you trade him.
In our in-house league, where I was lagging in steals and saves, I traded Pujols, Chad Cordero and Jimmy Rollins for Carl Crawford, Derrick Tumbow, Lyle Overbay and Michael Young. Though it will hurt seeing Pujols' homers and RBIs go, I know I significantly upgraded my weak areas and that my team is in better position to chase down the league leader.
Also, consider that Pujols soon will receive the Barry Bonds treatment; he'll be constantly pitched around or intentionally walked. Bonds hasn't had more than 110 RBIs in any season since he hit 73 home runs in 2001. Granted, Bonds has had more days off than Pujols figures to have, but Pujols' overall numbers won't be that much better than those of the game's other top power hitters.
Dangle Pujols among your leaguemates, let the offers roll in and take the best one. You are in the position of power, so don't deal until you are satisfied. I traded with the first owner who showed interest, but that was because our needs matched up well.
