SN: You won the 2005 A.L. Rookie of the Year award after barely making the team. What was different entering this season?
STREET: Coming into spring training I was a little bit more comfortable, figuring I had a spot and knowing my role. But the league is always adjusting, and it's a battle to stay ahead of the game.
SN: How did playing at the University of Texas prepare you for the majors?
STREET: It gives you the opportunity to play on a bigger stage every day. In my three years there, we were fortunate enough to go to the College World Series. You learn to deal with that type of situation where the game is more important. Arriving in the majors, the game seems bigger again and you have to cope with not mentally psyching yourself out. It teaches you to trust in yourself.
SN: So where were you when the Longhorns beat USC for the football national championship?
STREET: I was in the stands with my family and my girlfriend. Being a Texas fan ever since I could remember, when Vince Young crossed the goal line with 19 seconds left in the game, that was a dream come true.
SN: What position would Vince play in the majors?
