TOKYO, May 29 Asia Pulse - Philippine House Speaker Jose de Venecia has called on Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi on Monday, capping a successful five-day official visit here during which the Japanese government confirmed it would restore US$80 million (about P4 billion) in grants to the Philippines for its anti-poverty programs.
On Friday, de Venecia and wife Gina had a 40-minute private audience with the Japanese Emperor and Empress at the Imperial Palace, the second in nine years the Philippine leader had been granted an audience with the Emperor.
