Indiana residents got some wonderful pre-Easter surprises, albeit not in the gaily colored packaging normally associated with Easter baskets, but exciting nonetheless. Indiana became the first state in the country to offer residents lifetime concealed carry permits--as opposed to permits that need to be renewed every several years.

The lifetime permits save the permit holders the hassles that often go along with renewing permits, and they save the state the time and money needed to process the applications. Critics say that it's absurd to allow lifetime permits for concealed carry permits when teachers are required to recertify about once every six years.
