Tony Bennett may have left his heart in San Francisco, but a Canadian tourist staying in "the city by the bay" recently left her purse in Sausalito.
Toronto resident Shahla Ghannadian and her husband traveled to San Francisco for their daughter's wedding. Before flying home to Canada on March 26, the parents of the bride decided to see some of the Bay Area's tourist attractions. Among these was Sausalito--the quaint, artsy, Marin County community across the Golden Gate Bridge.
While there, the Ghannadians stopped for ice cream. Mrs. Ghannadian then gave her purse to her husband, perhaps not wanting to dribble mocha almond fudge or pralines 'n' cream all over it.
Mrs. Ghannadian's purse was a designer Louis Vuitton handbag worth two thousand dollars--and its contents were even more extravagant. Inside the lavish bag were a Cartier watch, about $500 in U.S. and Canadian currency, and a large amount of jewelry that Mrs. Ghannadian and her daughter had worn for the wedding ceremony. Among the jewels were emeralds, pearls, and diamonds--one of them weighing 12 carats. In all, the handbag's contents were worth an estimated one million dollars! ...
