Who better than a troupe of young Englishwomen-plus one plucky American-to host the after-dinner dance at the Met this year, with its "AngloMania" theme? The dance is an annual must-attend in the under-35 social season, the frothy refreshment, if you will, that follows the formidable main course.
This year's dance committee convened on a recent day at Tea & Sympathy in Manhattan: Harrods ambassadress Camilla Al Fayed (profiled on page 114); the models Lily Cole, Lily Donaldson, and Gemma Ward; and the American Lauren Davis. (A sixth committee member, Lady Gabriella Windsor [page 262], a Brown graduate and daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, was traveling abroad the day the committee poured.)
