American University in Washington DC is a leader in a recent movement to raise consciousness of how we treat one another on campus. In January it hosted a PaperClip Communications conference "Flipping the Switch: Encouraging Civility on Campus." Four panelists described AU's CIVITAS campaign for civility and responsible citizenship:
* Katsura Kurita Beltz, director of judicial affairs and mediation services, and CIVITAS campaign chair
* Tiffany Sanchez, director of new student programs
* Bernie Schulz, special assistant to the vice president of campus life
* Sara Waldron, associate dean of students
