When the Suns dropped in on the Basketball Hall of Fame a while back, guess who kept studying the plaques long after everyone else had headed for the lunchroom?
Need an assist? He's that stringy-haired Canadian who barely was recruited out of high school and sat on the bench for much of his first two seasons in the NBA. That's right, Steve Nash "really seemed to have a great appreciation for the history of the game," says Dean O'Keefe, a spokesman for the Hall.
The past two seasons, Nash has been busier making history than appreciating it. This year, he was named MVP for the second consecutive season for helping the Suns to 54 victories even though Amare Stoudemire contributed to only two wins.
Nash became only the fourth player to shoot better than 50 percent on field goals, 40 percent on 3s and 90 percent on free throws. Seven Suns, including Nash, averaged a career high in scoring.
