A gay rights group embarked on a cross-country bus tour of 19 colleges with policies against homosexuality this spring. The group, Soulforce, calls their seven-week trip the Equality Ride and says it is modeled after the anti-segregation Freedom Rides of 1961.

As they visited the mostly Christian schools, the group talked about experiences of facing hate and why they believe the Bible accepts homosexuality. All of the riders are under 26 and about half are Christian.
