May 20--Maybe it was a mistake for the Mets never to let Aaron Heilman start this season, the way he desperately wanted to. Lucky for the Mets, Heilman was in perfect position to get them off the hook.
He was so good Friday night, in the Mets' stirring 7-6 win over the Yankees, that it was hard to say what was best about him.
Either it was the fact that he put the whole night back in order with three perfect innings, or that he helped the Mets to outdo the Yankees bullpen (with Mariano Rivera, no less), or that he again bailed out the team that basically bailed out on him.
