Venezuela and Libya will offer free medical aid and discounted oil to developing countries in Africa, the Libyan foreign minister said as Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez ended his two-day trip to the country.
"The leaders of Libya and Venezuela discussed the formation of a team from both countries in addition to Cuba to support the developing poor countries of Africa," Libyan Foreign Minister Abdel Rahman Shalqam told The Associated Press on Thursday.
"Cuba will provide the medical crews, while Libya and Venezuela will support these crews and hospitals financially," he said, shortly after Chavez left the country on Thursday. Shalqam did not say when the programs would begin or how many people would be treated.
